His father, Thomas Dolak senior (1952-2013), was a Czechoslovakian born ice hockey player and coach.

life and career

In order to play in a strong junior league, Thomas Dolak junior moved from EHC Freiburg to Canada in 1997 , where he was on the ice for the Kingston Frontenacs and the North Bay Centennials in the Ontario Hockey League .

For the 1998/99 season the winger signed a contract with the Kassel Huskies from the German Ice Hockey League , which he left after two seasons in the direction of the reigning champions Munich Barons . Dolak had a decent season here, but disappointed a year later, which did not change after the team moved to Hamburg, where they played as Hamburg Freezers . For the 2003/04 season , the left-handed player moved to the Hanover Scorpions for this reason , where he made the breakthrough with 31 scorer points in the 2005/06 season .

Thomas Dolak was one of the crowd's favorites at the Hannover Scorpions and became German champions with them in the 2009/2010 season. In the decisive final game on April 25, 2010 against the Augsburg Panthers, he scored the decisive goal to make it 3-2 for the Hannover Scorpions and therefore goes down in history as the winning goal scorer.

For the 2011/12 season, Dolak moved within the DEL and returned to the Hamburg Freezers, which he left after the 2012/13 season and returned to the Hannover Scorpions. Here he worked as an assistant coach until December because he was unable to play for health reasons.

From 2014 he was employed as a trainer in the junior division of the Düsseldorfer EG . On February 15, 2015, due to the tense personnel situation, he was licensed with the DEL and played on February 20, 691 days after his resignation in the game against Adler Mannheim , where he immediately contributed a template to the 4-3 win after extra time.

Between January and April 2018, Dolak was Tobias Abstreiter's assistant coach and looked after the professional team of the Düsseldorfer EG in the DEL. In March 2019, the Düsseldorf team announced that Dolak would be part of the DEG professional team as an assistant coach at the start of the 2019/2020 season, having previously looked after the U17s.

International

For the German junior national teams , Thomas Dolak took part in the U20 World Cup in 1999 , with the seniors he took part in the 2000 World Cup and in the qualifying tournament for the 2002 Olympic Games that took place in the same year .
