Maximilian Kammerer (born September 28, 1996 in Düsseldorf ) is a German ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Düsseldorfer EG in the German ice hockey league since 2019 . He is the son of the former ice hockey player and coach Axel Kammerer .

Career

In his youth he played in the offspring of SC Reichersbeuern and EC Bad Tölz . In the 2013/14 season he played for the Regina Pats in the Western Hockey League . In the 2014/15 season he returned to Europe and played in the multinational youth league Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga for EC Red Bull Salzburg .

For the 2015/16 season , Christof Kreutzer brought him to the Düsseldorfer EG and provided him with a funding license for the EC Bad Nauheim . In the preparatory games, however, Kammerer was able to convince with good performances, so that he began the season at DEG. On October 11, 2015, Kammerer scored his first DEL goal in a 4-2 win against ERC Ingolstadt . After the main round in 2016/17 he was named DEL rookie of the year .

In May 2018, Kammerer signed - without being selected in an NHL Entry Draft - a three-year entry contract with the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL) and joined their farm team , the Hershey Bears , in American Hockey League to use. After signing with the Washington Capitals, DEG concluded a contractual agreement with Kammerer regarding a possible future return. This agreement came into force in May 2019 when Kammerer left the Capitals after one season.

International

In the spring of 2017, Kammerer was appointed to the senior national team for the first time .

Kammerer was nominated for the Germany Cup from November 10th to 12th, 2017, alongside his Düsseldorf team-mate Bernhard Ebner. In this tournament the German team met Russia, Slovakia and the USA team.
