Alexander Barta (born February 2, 1983 in Berlin (West) ) is a German ice hockey player who is under contract with the Düsseldorfer EG in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).
Career
Barta began his career with Eisbären Juniors Berlin , where he went through the youth teams and finally played for the DNL team and the Oberliga team. In the 2001/02 season the center received its first appearances in the DEL team of the polar bears and established itself so quickly in the top division that in the following year it only played a few games with the funding license partner EC Bad Nauheim . In the following seasons the right-shooter was only used in the DEL and continuously improved his scoring rate. After the German championship with the Berliners in 2005 , the attacker switched to the Hamburg Freezers , with whom he was eliminated in the play-off quarter-finals in the 2005/06 season . From December 6, 2006, Barta was the captain of the Freezers. On March 15, 2011, after the team had missed the playoffs, his contract with the Hamburgers was prematurely terminated. In June 2011, the center signed a contract for the 2011/12 season with the Malmö Redhawks from HockeyAllsvenskan . In April 2012 Barta moved from the second highest Swedish league to Rögle BK in the top division, the Elitserien . For the 2013/14 season he returned to Germany and joined the EHC Red Bull Munich from the German Ice Hockey League . With the Munich team, where a team reorientation had taken place due to the change of ownership, he reached 49 points in his debut season and was thus the player with the highest points on his team. Barta had signed a two-year contract in Munich, which was not renewed after the 2014/15 season . Already in January 2015 the change to league competitor ERC Ingolstadt in the next season 2015/16 became known after Alexander Barta could not build on the successes of the previous season in his second year in Munich, which u. a. The problematic relationship with the new coach Don Jackson is also blamed.
Barta terminated his contract with Ingolstadt after the 2015/16 season and moved within the DEL to Düsseldorfer EG . There he signed a three-year contract in May 2016. After failing to meet expectations with 12 points in his first season for the Rhinelander , he became the most successful scorer of his team in the following season 2017/18 with 40 points and was the second top scorer in the main round with 25 goals behind Brooks Macek . In the following season Barta was appointed captain by the assistant captain , led the first attack formation, played another strong season with 46 points (15 goals) from 49 games and finished sixth with his team after the main round. On November 29, 2019 Barta scored his 500th scorer point in the DEL in the derby against the Kölner Haie .
International
Barta played his first tournament for a selection of the German Ice Hockey Federation at the 2003 Junior World Championship . The attacker made his tournament debut in the senior national team in 2005 when he was relegated with the team at the World Cup . A year later Barta was part of the team at the Division I World Championship in Amiens , where the direct promotion succeeded. On March 24, 2008, the center was seriously injured in the play-off game against the Eisbären Berlin when it crashed unchecked into the gang. A further use in the current season as well as at the Ice Hockey World Championship 2008 in Canada was no longer possible. In February 2015, Alexander Barta announced his retirement from the German national ice hockey team. In the period from 2004 to 2014 he had scored 61 points (24 goals, 37 assists) in 153 games for the DEB selection and took part in 8 World Championships and the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin.
