Charlie Jahnke (born February 14, 1998 in Berlin ) is a German ice hockey player who has been playing for the Düsseldorfer EG in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) since September 2019 .

Career

Jahnke went through the Eisbären Berlin youth department , the Eisbären Juniors Berlin , before signing a professional contract with the Eisbären in the summer of 2016. In the 2016/17 season he made his first appearances in the Berlin team in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) and with the Lausitzer Füchsen in the DEL2 . With a view to the 2016/17 season, Jahnke was issued a funding license that allowed him to stand on the ice for the foxes in addition to the missions for the polar bears. At the end of September 2019, the Eisbären Berlin loaned him to the league competitor Düsseldorfer EG , for whom Jahnke played for the first time in the DEL on September 27, 2019 in the game against the Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers . The loan was limited to the period up to the league break in mid-November (" Germany Cup break").

After the end of the loan period on November 5, 2019, the Düsseldorfer EG signed Jahnke with a contract term until 2021.

International

Since 2016, Jahnke has been playing for the German junior national teams in his home country. He contested the U18 Junior World Championship of Division IA in 2016 , in which he finished second with the German team and missed promotion to the top division. In five missions he scored two goals and prepared three more. With the German U20 national team , the striker played the U20 Junior World Championship in Division IA in 2017 and 2018 . In ten appearances at the U20 tournaments, he scored seven times.

In February 2019 Jahnke made his debut in the German national team . He completed two test matches with the perspective team of U25 players called Top Team Beijing , set up by national coach Toni Söderholm , which will form the basis of the squad at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing , China .
