Barry Tallackson (born April 14, 1983 in Grafton , North Dakota ) is an American ice hockey player . In his career he played 7 years in the German Ice Hockey League for the Augsburger Panther and Eisbären Berlin .
Career
College and professional leagues in North America
Barry Tallackson began his career as a hockey player with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program , for which he was active from 1999 to 2001 for one year each in the junior leagues of the North American Hockey League and the United States Hockey League . He then attended the University of Minnesota for four years , for whose ice hockey team he played. With this he won the NCAA championship in 2002 and 2003 , and the championship of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association in 2003 and 2004 . In his time as a university player, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2002 in the second round as a total of 53 players by the New Jersey Devils . Towards the end of the 2004/05 season , the winger for New Jersey's farm team , the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League , made his professional ice hockey debut. He scored one goal and one assist in four games.
From 2005 to 2009 Tallackson came in every season for the New Jersey Devils in the National Hockey League for use, in which he was used, however, only sporadically. In total, he scored one goal and one assist in 20 games. The rest of the time he spent with their farm teams Albany River Rats and Lowell Devils in the AHL. After he had spent the 2009/10 season exclusively with the AHL team of the Peoria Rivermen , he received a contract with the Augsburg Panthers in the German Ice Hockey League for the following season .
7 years DEL - 2 times German champion
In his first DEL season 2010/11 , he was not only one of the Panthers' best points players, but together with his strike partner Darin Olver also formed one of the best attacking duos in the league. So Tallackson's 55 points were enough for 4th place in the main round scorer ranking and with 29 goals he was even the second best goalscorer of the season behind Michael Wolf .
For the following 2011/12 season, the successful Augsburg storm duo switched to the reigning DEL champion Eisbären Berlin , in which the experienced championship players Steve Walker , Denis Pederson and Derrick Walser had to be replaced.
In his first season for the capital club, he was not only able to defend the championship with this club, but was also the second best scorer of his team behind Olver. In the play-offs , the American was even the most valuable player with 17 points and was also able to enter the scorers list in the two decisive games against Adler Mannheim .
Also in the following season 2012/13 Tallackson was able to make his contribution to the renewed championship win of the Berlin team as the team's third best scorer, behind André Rankel and Travis James Mulock . He ran another 4 seasons for the Eisbären on the ice, in which he was the top scorer of his team in the main round with 18 goals in the 2013/14 season and in the 2015/16 season he was second-best scorer behind Olver Become a Berliner. For the 2016/17 season , in which Tallackson did not play with Olver in an attack series for the first time at the capital club, he no longer achieved the scores of the other seasons and thus became something of a symbol for the club's overall less than optimal main round. At least he scored the important equalizer in the decisive playoff quarter-final match against Adler Mannheim.
In the summer of 2017, after 375 games (238 points of which 96 goals) for Berlin, his current contract was terminated and the 1.96 m ice hockey giant moved to Asia , to the Japanese team from Tomakomai , the Ōji Eagles .
International
For the USA Tallackson took part in the U18 World Junior Championship in 2001 and the U20 World Junior Championship in 2003 .
