Tara Nott

Tara Nott , married Cunningham, (born May 10, 1972 in Del Rio , Texas ) is an American weightlifter . She was the first Olympic champion in weightlifting.

Career

Tara Nott began her athletic career as a gymnast and was part of the Colorado College football team from 1990. She made a career in football and was the captain of the 1995 Olympic Sports Festival team. At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , she saw weightlifting for the first time and spontaneously decided to do this sport. In the same year she was American weightlifting champion. In 2000 she seized the opportunity and, in excellent shape, won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Sydney in the class up to 48 kg body weight. She also helped that the leading Isabela Dragnewa from Bulgaria had to be disqualified for doping. She is married to former wrestler Casey Cunningham.

  • 2000, gold medal , OS in Sydney , up to 48 kg, with 185 kg, ahead of Lisa Rumbewas Raema, Indonesia, 185 kg and Sri Indriyani, 182.5 kg;
  • 2002, 7th place , World Championships in Warsaw , up to 53 kg, with 185 kg, winner: Ri Song-Hui , North Korea , 225 kg ahead of Li Xuejiu, China, 222.5 kg;
  • 2003, 1st place , PanAm Games in Santo Domingo , up to 48 kg, in front of Candelario and Remigia Arcila, Mexico
  • 2004, 10th place , OS in Athens , up to 48 kg, with 172.5 kg, winner: Nurcan Taylan , Turkey , 210 kg ahead of Li Zhuo, China, 205 kg (note: as Tara Cunningham)
