Marc Webb
Marc Preston Webb (born August 31, 1974 in Bloomington , Indiana ) is an American director of music videos and films .
Life
Marc Webb was born in Bloomington , Indiana , but his family moved with him to Madison , Wisconsin 18 months after he was born . After attending Madison West High School , he graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in English .
He made his entry into the film industry as a director for music videos . His first was for the group Blues Traveler with the song Canadian Rose in 1997. This was followed by clips for the Backstreet Boys ( Invitation Only ), Good Charlotte ( Festival Song ) and for My Chemical Romance ( Helena , The Ghost of You , I Don 't Love You , Teenagers ) and many more. With the music video for 21 Guns of the group Green Day , he won at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards the award for best director. Webb's first feature film (500), Days of Summer , was released in 2009 and was nominated for Best Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical at the 2010 Golden Globe Awards .
In 2010, Webb was hired by Sony Pictures to direct the new Spider-Man reboot. The studio had decided to restart the franchise after numerous inconsistencies with the script for the originally planned fourth part of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man series. The film was released in summer 2012 under the title The Amazing Spider-Man, starring Andrew Garfield in the title role. In 2014 the sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Rise of Electro followed again under the direction of Webb.
