Big Dumb Face (or BiGdumbFace ) is an American rock band founded by Wes Borland , the guitarist of Limp Bizkit . The group initially only consisted of Borland, who was able to let his creativity run free here alongside his main band.

Band history

The origins of the band go back to Borland's high school days, when he and his brother Scott founded the band Goatslayer. A long-time friend of the two by the name of Kyle Weeks was also there soon. They played a mixture of Death / Speed ​​/ Thrash / Black Metal with Country / Pop and crazy lyrics plus insane pseudonyms and disguise.

When Borland finally joined Limp Bizkit as a guitarist in 1994 , the project was put on hold. With the increasing success of the bizkits, the band seemed to be broken up. However, Borland's stage outfits and performances showed his fondness for the bizarre. In 1998 he recorded a demo with 13 tracks, some of which should later be found on the debut album.

In 2001 the time had finally come. The album "Duke Lion Fights The Terror !!" appeared. A bizarre mixture of hard and soft sounds, with a concept story about the "Duke Lion". Borland single-handedly recorded the entire album. He was only supported with sound collages by some of the later live musicians and his then wife Heather Borland. It was produced by Fred Durst, among others . A video clip has been released for the song "Duke Lion".

Borland put together a live band of friends for a small club tour that was on the road in 2001. Also in 2001 was a small short film called "Goatslayer - Insignia: The Beginning" with Borland, his brother Scott and Weeks in the lead roles. In the same year Borland split with Limp Bizkit and Big Dumb Face also seemed to be over.

The band's last sign of life was the song "Darkness Becomes", released in 2004 on Borland's Myspace page.

style

Big Dumb Face can hardly be put into one category. However, they were heavily influenced by bands like Primus , Ween and Mr. Bungle . Wes Borland described the band's sound as silly, idiotic, and bizarre.
