Cold is an American band from Jacksonville , Florida .

Band history

The band was founded in 1996 by Scooter Ward and Sam McCandless under the name Grundig . Due to disputes with the German company Grundig AG , they renamed themselves Cold . When Fred Durst noticed her, he signed her. The first self-titled album was released in 1998 on Fred Durst's A&M Records , which were later taken over by Geffen Records . In 2000 the follow-up album 13 Ways to Bleed on Stage was released . It was sold very successfully in the USA, four singles were released. The third album Year of the Spider was released again in 2003 on Geffen. In 2003/2004 the two guitarists Terry Balsamo (now Evanescence ) and Kelly Hayes left the band. They were replaced by Eddie Randini ( Darwin's Waiting Room ) and Matt Loughran (Ex- Grundig ).

In mid-2004 the band left their old label Geffen and signed with Atlantic Records . On August 10, 2005, the fourth and, for the time being, last album, A Different Kind of Pain , was released. After a first separation and a reunion in spring 2006, the band announced their final separation in November 2006. According to Scooter Ward, however , he wanted to keep Cold alive. His project The Killer and the Star was born . In 2009 the band reunited. The current album "Superfiction" was released in summer 2011. On February 6, 2014, COLD started a crowdfunding project to finance the production of a DVD and a double album. This was the live album COLD: LIVE.

On June 27, 2019, eight years after the last studio album, the single Shine was released . The accompanying album The Things We Can't Stop will be released on September 13, 2019.

Current

Scooter Ward founded the project The Witch after the end of Cold , which was later renamed When November Falls . The first album The Series of Emotion was originally supposed to be released in autumn 2007. In early 2008, however, Scooter renamed the band again in The Killer and the Star . The first album of the same name was released on July 14, 2009 on the label I AM: WOLFPACK by producer Ross Robinson .
