Alexander Max "Alex" Band (born June 8, 1981 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American singer and until 2005 was the lead singer of the band The Calling . From 2004 to 2009 he was married to actress Jennifer Sky . When the band decided to take a break in 2005, the band announced that they were aiming for a solo career. He changed record labels and released his first solo album We've all been there in 2010 .

biography

Alex Band started taking guitar lessons when he was eight years old. At 15 he left school and signed a recording deal with RCA Records . He made up for his degree with private tuition. Band plays guitar, piano and saxophone. In the neighborhood where he grew up, he met Aaron Kamin and the two formed a band called Generation Gap. They later renamed themselves Next Door and then The Calling . In 2003 Alex band recorded with Carlos Santana a single entitled Why Do not You and I on.

In mid-2005, Band split from his partner at The Calling and decided to pursue a solo career. He recorded his first solo album in 2007-2008 while under contract with GR. Due to difficulties with the record company, he canceled his contract and founded his own label (Alex Band Music).

In 2007 Alex Band could be heard on the soundtrack for The Bratz with the song It Doesn't Get Better Than This .

In 2008 he released an EP ( Extended Play ) with five songs, which is available as a download and distributed on CD by his official street teams .

To promote his current music, the band appeared as a guest on the series CSI: NY (Episode 5x12 Help), in which he played a musician under suspicion of murder. He is also very committed to the charitable organizations Donate Life and Make The Difference Network by collecting donations and playing on stage at events.

On March 19, 2010, the bands first single from the solo album entitled Tonight was released as a download and has since been played on the radio across Germany. The song was also heard on RTL as background music for the advertising for the 2010 World Cup. Band is under contract with the EMI Group in Germany .

On September 27, 2010, the bands first solo album entitled We've All Been There was released .

On May 23, 2012, the EP After the Storm with five titles was released as a download on iTunes .

In August 2013, The Calling announced their comeback. Just a few hours after the announcement, shortly after a performance at a music festival, he was kidnapped and beaten by strangers.

His father is the horror film producer Charles Band , whom Alex still supports today by writing music for the films. His grandfather is Albert Band . Alex Band used to make brief appearances in films like Puppet Master II . His father's brother is the film composer Richard Band . The ex-wife of Alex Band - Jennifer Sky - is an actress and known from Xena - The Warrior Princess and some episodes of CSI: On the trail of the perpetrators . Together with his ex-wife, Band also starred in the film A Fish Without a Bicycle . He's also modeling, currently for Ralph Lauren . Band's sister Taryn has her own fashion brand Vanitas of California and her husband, photographer Kurt Iswarienko, took the photos for the albums of The Calling Camino Palmero and Two .

Since February 2010 he was engaged to Kristin Blanford, who also starred in the video for Tonight . On May 1, 2011, he married his fiancée among close relatives and friends. However, they divorced by mutual agreement in April 2012.
