Albert Band

Albert Band (born May 7, 1924 in Paris , † June 14, 2002 in Los Angeles ) was an American film producer and director .

Life

Band started out in the film business as an editor for Pathé ; since the 1940s he worked in Hollywood, initially as an assistant director z. B. for John Huston . Later he produced himself and moved his center of life first to Sweden, then to Italy, where he was one of the pioneers of the US western produced in Europe , until Sergio Leone created a new kind of the genre. He returned to the States in 1970 and in the following decade began building the production company Empire Pictures with his son Charles . Since 1956 he has also directed several films himself.

His second son is the composer Richard Band .

Occasionally, Alfredo Antonini is given as the maiden name .
