Michele Federico Sciacca

Michele Federico Sciacca ['ʃakka] (born July 12, 1908 in Giarre , † February 24, 1975 in Genoa ) was an Italian philosopher .

Sciacca studied philosophy at the University of Naples and in the initial phase was mainly influenced by Giovanni Gentile . Since 1947 Sciacca taught at the University of Genoa . The Institute for Philosophy and Intellectual History of Europe there ( Dipartimento di Studi sulla Storia del Pensiero Europeo ) is now named after him. According to the universal dictionary, Sciacca is to be regarded as a representative of spiritualism . He was also the first president of the Academy of German-Italian Studies from 1959 to 1974 .
