Charles Band

Charles Robert Band (born December 27, 1951 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American director , screenwriter , documentary filmmaker and producer of numerous B-films, mainly from the sci-fi, fantasy and horror areas. As a director he was responsible for over 60 films.

Life

His father Albert Band was just like him a director and film producer. Charles Band made his debut as a director in 1973 with the film Last Foxtrot in Burbank , which he directed and produced under the pseudonym Carlo Bokino. His brother Richard Band works as a film composer. The two have worked together several times.

The best-known films he has produced as (executive) producer include the Puppet Master , the Subspecies and the Trancers film series. So far he has accompanied more than 290 productions. One cameraman he worked with frequently in the 1990s was Adolfo Bartoli . A collaboration that continues to this day connects him with the cameraman Howard Wexler . Directors frequently produced by him are, for example, Ted Nicolaou and David DeCoteau .

In 1983 he founded the production company Empire International Pictures , which went bankrupt in 1989. He then founded Full Moon Features .

In 1986, the band received the George Pal Memorial Award at the Saturn Awards .

Private

His son Alex Band from his first marriage was the lead singer of the rock group The Calling until 2005 . Charles Band is the father of four children.
