content

Jack Deth, a policeman from 2247, travels through time to 1985 to bring down the criminal Martin Whistler. Whistler had sent the police a message saying he wanted to wipe out the ancestors of his opponents.

Deth finds himself in the body of a Phil and first has to make friends with the new environment. Much is alien to him and Leena, the girlfriend of the real Phil, thinks he is schizophrenic , so he explains his mission to her. He wants her to stay close so that he can find his way around town at all. Unexpectedly, Deth encounters a Whistler ally whom he shoots. Whistler, who works in the body of Detective Weisling as a police officer in the city, is on his heels.

Deth quickly falls into Whistler's trap, but he escapes one more time. With Leena's help, he goes into hiding for a short time and then continues his hunt for the criminal. This leads him to the outskirts of the city to the homeless, where he locates one of the ancestors to be protected and brings him to safety. Then he lures Whistler to him and can overwhelm him. Unfortunately, he broke one of the two ampoules of the serum with which he can send himself and Whistler back to the future. Alternatively, he could have killed his opponent, but since Detective Weisling is in the body and he is actually innocent, he decides to give Whistler the injection and he himself to stay at Leena's side in 1985.

criticism

"A science fiction film that is largely staged without the harshness customary in the genre, and at times quite funny."

Sequels

The film was followed by five sequels. Actor Tim Thomerson took the lead role in all but the sixth film, Helen Hunt, however, was only seen in the following two films.

Charles Band directed Trancers II in 1990 , and he was executive producer on the other parts of the series.

Trancers 2010 was staged for the video market in 1991, as were the Trancers IV and V from 1994. In 2002, the sixth part of the series was released.
