Telma Louise Hopkins (born October 28, 1948 in Louisville , Kentucky ) is an American singer and actress .

Life

Telma Hopkins has three sisters and was raised in Detroit , Michigan with her grandmother. As a teenager she sang in the church choir before turning her hobby into a profession. She worked as a background singer . Her career began in the mid-1970s as one half of the singer duo Dawn , the group " Tony Orlando and Dawn".

Her acting career began in the late 1970s. First she starred in a few television films and series. In 1985 she took on a role in the movie Trancers . In the first two sequels in 1990 and 1994, respectively, she was seen again in her role.

She became known to the German-speaking audience with the television series All Under One Roof , which was broadcast on Pro7 from 1995. She played one of the leading actors for four years, and later returned for guest appearances. From 2002 to 2006 she played Phyllis Thorne in the US TV series Half & Half .

Telma Hopkins was once married with one grown son.
