Susan (Original title: Suddenly Susan ) is an American sitcom , shot from 1996 to 1999 and broadcast in the US from 1997 to 2000 on NBC . It consists of four seasons. The series was first shown in Germany by RTL in 2001.
action
The sitcom is about journalist Susan Keane, who leaves her fiancé Kip standing in front of the wedding altar and takes back her job at the fictional magazine The Gate, which is based in San Francisco and is run by Kip's brother Jack. Over time, affection develops between Susan and Jack, but despite brief affairs, they never really get together.
The rivalry between Susan and her colleague Maddy and Susan's affairs run through all episodes of the first seasons as a common thread. In some cases, however, profound topics such as homosexuality or environmental protection are also dealt with.
The last episode of the third season, which was dedicated to actor David Strickland , has a special position . Strickland hanged himself in March 1999 when the season had started. The producers decided to deal with his demise in the series: Strickland's character Todd disappears without a trace, a possible suicide is hinted at at the end of the episode, which however turns out to be a fatal accident at the end of the episode through a phone call. The episode closes with the words "The gods of comedy looked down on you and smiled."
