NICK Comedy was a program line broadcast from September 12, 2005 to June 3, 2006 within the television station NICK , which was operated by Viacom subsidiary MTV Networks Europe daily from 9:15 pm (on weekends from 8:15 pm) to 3:00 am was operated. The program track corresponded to the British television broadcaster Paramount Comedy , also operated by Viacom , although Germany had refrained from introducing a new Viacom brand, which was rather unknown on the German television market, but instead relied on the more established Nickelodeon brand . The target group were 14 to 49 year olds. Some formats from NICK Comedy returned to German television screens with Comedy Central Deutschland , which started on January 15, 2007 .
In 2008 Nick ran a similar program under the name Nick after eight .
Reasons for starting the program track
There were several reasons for putting a comedy night block on Nick. On the one hand, the Comedy Central Germany program was not yet available at that time, which was partly due to the fact that not all legal aspects of the takeover of Viva Media AG (the parent company of Viva Plus , the program that was later managed by Comedy Central Germany should be replaced) have been clarified by Nick's parent company Viacom ; in addition, they wanted to produce a number of their own programs in Germany for Comedy Central Germany, which were not yet finished at that time. Another reason for the comedy night block on Nick was that the target audience for Nick i. d. Usually no longer sits in front of the television in the evening; the audience of American comedy series, on the other hand, does. Thirdly, the US Nickelodeon has been broadcasting comedy series at night since 1985, there under the Nick at Nite brand . Nick at Nite and Comedy Central differ in the USA above all in that Nick at Nite mainly shows old comedy series from the big US television companies, while Comedy Central mainly broadcasts current in-house productions.
