MTV Rocks is a British music station that emerged from MTV Two on March 1, 2010 . The station is broadcast in Great Britain via the BSkyB service and can also be received via cable in other European pay-TV packages - including in Germany .

Unlike the main MTV program, which mainly broadcasts reality shows, MTV Rocks still focuses on music. Clips from the music genres rock , indie and alternative are played here . In addition to music video spreads, MTV Rocks also broadcasts live recordings. In addition, the popular show Gonzo was taken over from its predecessor MTV Two.

In addition to financing through pay-TV fees, MTV Rocks also broadcasts advertising like its sister stations. Teleshopping broadcasts between 3am and 6am UK time at night.

MTV Rocks Europe

Since the end of May 2014, a European version of MTV Rocks has been broadcast in many European countries, in Germany via satellite. The main difference between the station and its British sister station is that it eliminates teleshopping and advertising, but also eliminates any moderated clip series.

MTV Rocks Europe can be received in Germany and Austria, but not in Switzerland.

On April 5, 2017, MTV changed the color of the logo for MTV Rocks Europe and for the UK channel

MTV Rocks Europe will leave the ASTRA 19.2 ° satellite on September 30, 2019 and will then no longer be receivable in Germany via Technisat's MTV Unlimited package. The affected broadcaster MTV Rocks Europe will switch from the Astra satellite system to the Thor 0.8 ° West satellite, which belongs to the Norwegian satellite operator Telenor. In this context, the provider Technisat announced that it would also discontinue its previous "MTV Unlimited" package, which also includes MTV Rocks Europe, on September 30, 2019.

Alternatively, MTV Rocks Europe could still be received in Germany via Diveo. On November 30, 2019, however, Diveo also ceased operations, so that the station MTV Rocks can no longer be received there.
