Nicktoons is a Viacom- owned station that broadcasts in the United States, United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Germany (since March 31, 2010). It is a sister station to Nickelodeon .

history

United States

As Nicktoons TV, the station first went on air on May 1, 2002. In 2003 the station was renamed Nicktoons, 2005 in Nicktoons Network. The reason for the last renaming in 2009 is the international realignment of the Nickelodeon transmitter family by Viacom. The broadcaster broadcasts its program around the clock in SD and HD , in English and in Spanish. Similar to the Disney Channel sister station Toon Disney , the programming at Nicktoons is structured, and it is also similar at Boomerang . Since May 5, 2014 the broadcast has been with a new logo. The logo as such has remained the same, but the colors have been adjusted.

United Kingdom and Ireland

As Nicktoons TV, the English branch of the US broadcaster went on air on July 22, 2002. Unlike the US version, Nicktoons UK (the name of the station since August 2004) only broadcasts from 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. (until 10:00 p.m. Nicktoons, until 2:00 a.m. teleshopping). An offshoot of Nicktoons UK started on August 18, 2008 under the name Nicktoonsters on a common frequency with Paramount Comedy 2 +1, the TimeShift version of Paramount Comedy 2. The station was discontinued on July 31, 2009 and August 1, 2009 started by Nicktoons Replay, the TimeShift version of Nicktoons. Since the channel was shared with today's Comedy Central Extra +1, Nicktoons only broadcasted Replay from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The station has since been discontinued on October 2, 2012.

Since October 16, 2012, Nicktoons UK has also been broadcasting in Ireland. The station has been called Nicktoons UK & Ireland since then .

Netherlands

The Dutch offshoot of the US broadcaster started on August 1, 2007 and broadcasts around the clock. Since March 31, 2010 Nicktoons Nederland has been using the new station group logo.

Germany

Former Nick Premium logo

The pay TV broadcaster Nick Premium , which has existed in Germany since the end of 2007 , has also been known as nicktoons since March 31, 2010 . In contrast to all other Nicktoons broadcasters, the program of the German broadcaster consists of cartoons and animation as well as real series. The name change was most likely only carried out due to international standardization, a change in content did not seem to be considered for a long time. In the meantime, the real series only make up a small proportion of the previous evening's program.

At the end of June 2014, Nicktoons ceased broadcasting via Sky, but the station can still be received in cable networks.

From April 1, 2020, the station will be back on Sky. There it can then be received with Sky Q or Sky Ticket Entertainment.

Mexico

Since February 4, 2013, Nicktoons has also been broadcasting in Mexico.
