Nickelodeon Vlaanderen is the offshoot of the US children's channel Nickelodeon in Flanders . The station went on air on April 1, 2003 as Nickelodeon op TMF . For a long time it was broadcast daily until 8 p.m., from then on MTV Vlaanderen could be seen. Nickelodeon Vlaanderen has been open 24 hours since October 4th, 2011.

history

In 2003, Nickelodeon started in Flanders on TMF Vlaanderen, which is also part of the MTV Group, from 6:00 to 11:00 under the name Nickelodeon op TMF (German: Nickelodeon on TMF ). One year after it started broadcasting, Nickelodeon switched to the frequency of MTV Vlaanderen and extended its airtime to 6 hours (6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.).

With the merger of Nickelodeon Nederland and The Box on December 16, 2006 in the Netherlands, the airtime of Nickelodeon Vlaanderen was also extended from 6 to 9 hours (5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.). For the rest of the time, MTV Vlaanderen was still shown.

On August 1, 2007, two new digital channels, Nicktoons and Nick Hits, were launched . They can be received in the Netherlands and Flanders. It was also planned to start Nick Jr. in Flanders. They wanted to take over the Disney channel Jetix for this, but this did not materialize. Instead, Nick Jr. Vlaanderen was shown on Canal Z from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. through October 4, 2011 . The station has been independent since then.

After starting to show Flemish advertising in the summer of 2009, it announced its own formats for the channel in Flanders. Today the programs Nickelodeon Nederland and Vlaanderen also differ in the programs they broadcast.

On March 31, 2010, all Nickelodeon branches in the Netherlands received a new logo. The reason for this is the international rebranding of the Nickelodeon family. The logos of Nickelodeon, Nick Jr. and Nicktoons were adopted from the US broadcaster.

Nickelodeon has been broadcasting 24 hours a day since October 4, 2011, with the TeenNick evening show starting at 9 p.m. Between October 4, 2011 and November 5, 2012, TeenNick Vlaanderen started an hour earlier than its Dutch counterpart. However, this was reversed.

Since October 1, 2015, Spike's program has been broadcast instead of TeenNick from 9:00 p.m.
