Nickelodeon Nederland is the branch of the US children's channel Nickelodeon in the Netherlands . The station went on air on September 1, 2002. For a long time it was broadcast daily until 8 p.m., from then on Comedy Central Nederland could be seen. Nickelodeon Nederland has been on view 24 hours since February 14, 2011.

history

At the beginning of 2002, MTV Networks Benelux took over the Kindernet broadcaster , which at that time could be seen as a program block on NET 5 . The weekend program block was then renamed Nickelodeon .

On September 1, 2002, Nickelodeon took over all frequencies from Kindernet. The name Kindernet was initially retained for the preschool children’s block after the channel change in September 2002, until it was renamed Nick Jr. on January 1, 2005 . Nickelodeon initially broadcast its program for 24 hours. That changed, however, when the Dutch television network NET 5 launched another channel called Veronica . Due to the division of programs at Nickelodeon and Veronica, a dispute arose. While Nickelodeon aired kid-friendly series during the day, Veronica showed more sex-related shows in the evening. Therefore, the station Veronica was set on September 14, 2003. Since then, Nickelodeon has been on the air for 24 hours again.

In September 2004, John de Mol bought the evening shares of Nickelodeon. He wanted to reintroduce an evening channel on Nickelodeon.

On September 16, 2005, Talpa started on the frequency of Nickelodeon Netherlands. Now Nickelodeon could only be seen in the Netherlands from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., while in Flanders Nickelodeon was broadcast on the MTV frequency from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. In December 2005, Nickelodeon's digital sister station was launched. Since then, Nick Jr. has been available as a separate station for 24 hours.

Since December 16, 2006, The Box Comedy and Nickelodeon have shared the frequency and Nickelodeon broadcast in the Netherlands from 5:00 am to 8:00 pm. The remaining airtime broadcasts Comedy Central Nederland , which emerged on April 30, 2007 from The Box Comedy. Between December 1st and 15th, Nickelodeon broadcast on two frequencies:

  • Talpa: 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • The Box: 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

So the audience could change the frequency.

On August 1, 2007, two new digital channels, Nicktoons and Nick Music, were launched . They can be received in the Netherlands and Flanders.

On March 31, 2010, all Nickelodeon branches in the Netherlands received a new logo. The reason for this is the international rebranding of the Nickelodeon family. The logos of Nickelodeon, Nick Jr. and Nicktoons were adopted from the US broadcaster.

Nickelodeon has been broadcasting 24 hours since December 12, 2016.

Since April 2012, Nickelodeon Nederland can also be received in HD .
