Veronica is a Dutch commercial broadcaster. Until July 28, 2011 he was part of the ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG broadcasting group , which also included the NET 5 and SBS6 channels . From July 29, 2011 to July 19, 2017, the station was in the hands of Sanoma Media (67%) and Talpa Media (33%) and since July 19, 2017 it was completely in the hands of Talpa Media. Veronica is aimed primarily at a young audience. The program consists mainly of US productions. It is broadcast daily from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., the rest of the broadcast time is shared with the children's and youth channel Disney XD .
history
The Veronica Omroep Organization (see Radio Veronica # story ) had been a program supplier for the public service broadcaster in the Netherlands since 1976. The music show Countdown was produced by Veronica from 1978 to 1993 and broadcast in 22 countries, including a. also on Elf 99 , a program on GDR television .
From September 1, 1995, Veronica was a private TV station of the Holland Media Group (HMG; later RTL Nederland ), in which the Vereniging Veronica was involved. After Vereniging Veronica left HMG, the station was renamed Yorin on April 2, 2001 , as the name rights to Veronica remained with Vereniging Veronica.
In cooperation with MTV Networks Benelux, a new Veronica was launched on April 15, 2002; the airtime was shared with the children's channel Kindernet, today's Dutch Nickelodeon . Therefore, there were only three programs in the evening, which were then repeated again during the night. This led to the program being discontinued on July 14, 2003.
In the same year it was taken over by the Scandinavian company SBS Broadcasting . On September 20, 2003, SBS transformed its V8 channel into Veronica. Compared to its predecessors, this one is more successful.
