Chalk Zone - Die Zauberkreide ( Switzerland : Rudis Zauberkreide ) is an American animated series by Nickelodeon . It was produced by Frederator Studios and the Canadian animation company CINAR . The series is loosely based on the cartoon Simon in the Land of Chalk Drawings from 1974.
One day, Rudy, the main character, finds a magic chalk that gives him access to the magical world of chalk behind the slate , where everything ends up that has ever been wiped off the blackboard, and where everything you draw with the magic chalk comes to life. He only tells his secret to his girlfriend Penny Sanchez. In the chalk world he meets the superhero Snap from the planet Snap. Together they fight all kinds of monsters and have many adventures.
The first season included only six episodes that aired in 2002. The second season had more episodes and came on TV from 2003. In Switzerland, the series ran in a Swiss-German version dubbed on SRF Zwei . A soundtrack album for the series was also released in the USA called In The Zone (not to be confused with the Britney Spears album of the same name ).
Characters
- Rudy Tabootie is a shy little boy from Plainsville, a fictional town. In the Chalk Zone he surpasses himself and regularly becomes a hero, especially thanks to his great talent for drawing.
- Snap is a short superhero from the planet Snap and has long been a popular drawing motif by Rudy. Thanks to the magic chalk, he came to life and has been Rudy's best friend ever since. Snap is fearless and heroic, but always friendly.
- Penny Sanchez is Rudy's best friend. She's the math genius in her class and can often help Rudy solve problems because she's a lot more sensible and thoughtful than he is. Except for Rudy, she's the only real person who comes to Chalk Zone.
- Joe Tabootie is Rudy's father, a tall, friendly butcher . He doesn't understand why his son is so enthusiastic about painting; he would prefer if he later became a butcher too. But he also likes his son that way.
- Mildred Tabootie is Rudy's fat mother. She is the editor of the gossip column and a fun- loving, exuberant person.
- Racket type Schmitt is the school hooligan and goes to the same class as Rudy and Penny. He particularly annoys Rudy, Penny and other weaker people. He always calls Rudy Cartoony.
- Horace T. Wilter is the class teacher for Rudy's class. He is strict, choleric and has a downright pathological hatred of cartoons.
