Jess Harnell (born December 23, 1963 in Englewood , New Jersey ) is an American voice actor , actor and singer .

Life

Jess Harnell grew up as the son of jazz composer Joe Harnell in Teaneck , New Jersey. His brother is jazz drummer Jason Harnell . As a child, he moved to Philadelphia with his father as his father was hired as the musical director of The Mike Douglas Show . At the age of eleven he came to Los Angeles , where he still lives today.

As a child he was interested in cartoons and he began to be interested in dubbing at an early age . He began to imitate voices and first learned to imitate David Cassidy , one of the stars of The Partridge Family , and later he could do all four of the Beatles . His father supported him and took him on a voice over .

At first, however, he wanted to be a rock singer and began as a studio singer in 1987. From 1991 he began to dub. Initially, he had minor appearances on series such as Throb , Darkwing Duck and Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles . He also spoke the voice of Roger Rabbit for a roller coaster .

His first long-term engagement was for the animated series Animaniacs . There he spoke Wakko, one of the main characters. He developed the voice from the John Lennon imitation, which he set higher due to the young age of the protagonist, as if Lennon had inhaled helium . The role made him known in the film business. Since then, he has spoken characters in numerous cartoons and movies. He received a Daytime Emmy nomination for Pet Alien . As one of the speakers for the film Ralph Enough , he received a BTVA Feature Film Voice Acting Award.

Jess Harnell was also the front man for Loud & Clear and its successor, the fictional rock group Rock Sugar , known for their mashups of pop and metal pieces.
