Teenage Robot ( English : My Life as a Teenage Robot ) is an American animated series that went on air on the US television network Nickelodeon in 2003. In addition, a television film based on the series entitled My Life as a Teenage Robot - Escape from Cluster Prime was made. Production of the series was discontinued after three seasons. The series is based on a short cartoon released under the label Oh Yeah! Cartoons ran at the American Nickelodeon. In Germany, the series was first seen on Nick in 2005 .

content

The series is about the adventures of the robot XJ-9, modeled after a human teenage girl, who prefers to be called Jenny. This is due to the English pronunciation of "J-9" which, with a bit of modification, sounds like Jenny. Although Jenny feels compelled to save the world from all kinds of calamities, she would rather do what teenage girls her age are clichéd do: adore a pop star, read teen magazines, or hang out with friends Brad and Tuck.

main characters

  • Global Robot Response Unit XJ-9 alias XJ-9 alias Jenny Wakeman: The robot XJ-9 is the eponymous main character in the series. She wants to live as a normal teenager, go to school and be with friends, against the wishes of her builder Mrs. Dr. Wakeman. Jenny is initially forbidden from contact with other people, but she soon meets Brad, the boy next door.
  • Dr. Noreene Wakeman : Noreene Wakeman has tirelessly saved mankind from destruction for years with the help of intelligent machines. Now she is passing this task on to the XJ-9 robot she has designed. Dr. Wakeman took over her father's enthusiasm for science and is sad that Jenny does not follow this example. Jenny is lovingly called her "mother" or "mum". Occasionally she invents some more or less usable upgrades for the XJ-9, like a few new eyes or immature nerve sensors that only let you feel pain and tickling.
  • Bradley "Brad" Carbunkle : Brad Carbunkle is about the same age boy next door. He is the first person, apart from Dr. Wakeman, can make real contact with Jenny, and he's sort of mentoring Jenny's teenage life on the show. He seems cool to Jenny, but not to others.
  • Tucker "Tuck" Cornelius Carbunkle : Tuck is Brad's little brother. He is small, scared, restless but enthusiastic about the XJ-9. If Jenny takes him with her, he will immediately pounce on someone on arrival, but is held back by Brad or Jenny and taught otherwise.
  • Sheldon Oswald Lee : Sheldon is Jenny's admirer and a tech freak. His talent has taken advantage of it to the silver beam ( Silver Shell to create). He originally wanted to use this robot suit to prove to Jenny that robot boys are not perfect either. Unfortunately, Jenny fell in love with him and overlooked his arrogant behavior and narcissism . She has overcome feelings for the silver ray, but has not yet found out that it is actually Sheldon.
  • Queen Vexus : She is one of the villains of the series. Like a queen bee , she leads a planet where robots are in charge ( computer clusters ) and humans are slaves. She is one of Jenny's adversaries and often tries to get Jenny into the cluster.
  • Brittany "Brit" and Tiffany "Tiff" Krust : They are the stars of Jenny's, Sheldon and Brad's high schools and always the center of attention, especially because of their clothes. Brit is English and a genius when it comes to devilish plans, Tiff is very emotional and often angry. Since Jenny attracted everyone's attention on her first day at school, the two immediately declared her their enemy. In addition, Brit is in love with Don Prima, who now and then admires Jenny.

Supporting characters

  • The XJ Line : XJ1 through XJ8 are Jenny's sisters, designed and built by Doctor Wakeman before her.
  • Don Prima : He's the star of Jenny's high school and the crush of all girls.
  • The Space Bikers (Orion's Angels): Letta, Olgo, Tammy, Lenny and Sledge are alien bikers who often want to terrorize the earth, but are always prevented from doing so by Jenny. In the course of the series it is revealed that they lead a very decent life on their home planet and only occasionally stir up other planets as space bikers for fun.
  • The Teen Team : Orion, Die Tube (Squish) and Nebula are a group of young alien superheroes that Jenny was a brief member of.
  • Vega : She is Queen Vexus' daughter and her successor in the cluster. Her friends Shell, Drab, and Tuff match Sheldon, Brad, and Tuck.
