Doug is a US - animated series from Nickelodeon that the everyday life of the eleven year old boy Douglas Yancey "Doug" Funnie concerns.
The series was designed by graphic artist Jim Jinkins and copywriter Joe Aaron . It first aired on Nickelodeon from 1991 to 1994. In 1996, Disney acquired the rights to Doug as part of the acquisition of Jinkins animation company Jumbo Pictures. The fifth season was first broadcast on RTL Television in 1997 .
action
Doug, who records his experiences in the diary, is the protagonist of the series. The actual action is therefore usually introduced as a flashback. Most of the time the series revolves around ordinary events like a competition or problems at school - but Doug often dramatizes these events so that they become superhero adventures or the like in his imagination. Then the trigger for his fears (e.g. the school principal) becomes the opponent of the hero he has to fight. In the end, however, the hero always finds a peaceful way to get along with the antagonist, and Doug uses this path in real life.
In addition to Doug, his friends Patti and Skeeter and his dog Porkey are regular protagonists of the series. Skeeter is his best friend and Patti Mayonnaise is his crush. They all live in Bluffington, a fictional city in the United States . His opponent is Roger M. Klotz, a boy who has stayed seated several times and who often annoys Doug.
Characters
- Douglas Yancey "Doug" Funnie
- Doug is an 11-year-old boy and the main character on the show. He is very scared and has a lot of imagination, so that he often dramatizes ordinary everyday situations, then he wished he could be a superhero or secret agent who could solve his problems. At the end of a story, however, he always realizes that his fears were unfounded and that he can solve anything with a little courage or a good idea. Doug keeps a diary and draws a comic about himself and his dog Porkey as a superhero.
Originally spoken by Billy West (1991-1994), who among others also lends his voice to Fry from Futurama .
- Patricia "Patti" mayonnaise
- Patti is Doug's best friend. Doug has been secretly in love with her since they first met.
- Mosquito "Skeeter" Valentine
- Skeeter is Doug's best friend. He's a genius, but he doesn't act like that. He comes from a green family and has a younger brother named Dale. Skeeter had a very changeable relationship with Beebe Bluff. In Doug's comic, he's the Silver Skeeter, a reference to the Marvel hero Silver Surfer .
- Porkchop
- Porkchop or Porkey is the dog of the Funnie family. He rarely behaves in a species-appropriate manner, so his dog house is an igloo with a refrigerator and television reception and he and his master also take part in sporting competitions or handicrafts. As Doug's most loyal friend, he goes through thick and thin with him in every story.
- Roger M. Klotz
- Roger is Doug's rival, who regularly shows rowdy behavior towards others. He lives in a trailer with his divorced mother and his cat Stinky. Like Porky, Stinky rarely behaves appropriately.
In Doug's cartoon, he's the vicious Dr. Klotzenstein and uses his skills to cheat at school.
- Beebe bluff
- Beebe is friends with Patti, Doug and Skeeter. She is in love with Skeeter and, to a lesser extent, Doug. Her father founded Beebe Bluff Middle School , which from above looks like Beebe's head.
- Judith Anastasia "Judy" Funnie
- Doug's sister, who fell in love with herself and had a great deal of art and acting. She is very eccentric.
- Assistant Principal Lamar Bone
- The assistant principal of the school Doug and friends attend. He goes to a yodel club. In his job as deputy principal, he tyrannizes the students in a certain way. To his boss, the actual principal of the school, he behaves increasingly cursory.
- Ms. Wingo
- Ms. Wingo is Doug's teacher. She owns a collection of caricatures drawn about her by her students over the years.
- Mr. William "Bill" Bluff III
- Bill is the richest man in Bluffington and Beebe's father. He is a descendant of the city founder of Bluffington.
- Robert "Bob" White
- White is mayor of Bluffington at the beginning of the series, but later becomes the principal of the middle school.
- Mr. Dink
- Mr. Dink and his wife are the Funnie family's neighbors. They are characterized by the fact that they always buy expensive items and then brag about them in front of the neighbors, always in connection with the sentence spoken by Mr. Dink “That wasn't cheap!” And usually a laugh afterwards. Even so, Mr. Dink is always a very kind man and some of Doug's adventures take place by his side. Mrs. Dink, on the other hand, looks like the complete opposite of her husband, speaks little and when she does, then pessimistic.
synchronization
