Doug E. Doug (* 7. January 1970 in Brooklyn , New York City as Douglas Bourne ) is an American actor .

Life

Doug E. Doug, an African American , has been a comedian since he was 17 . In 1991 he took on the lead role in the comedy Hangin 'out - 4 Homeboys Unterwegs , for which he was nominated for the 1992 Independent Spirit Award . He played one of the leading roles in the television series Harlem Hip Hop ( Where I Live , 1993) and was nominated for the Young Artist Award in 1994. He had his first major international box office success in 1993 with the Disney film Cool Runnings , in which he played the leading role of Sanka Coffie . This was followed by the other Disney comedies Operation Dumbo (1995), in which he starred alongside Danny Glover and Ray Liotta , and This Darn Cat from 1997, in which he starred alongside Christina Ricci .

For the role in the television series Cosby , in which he played alongside Bill Cosby from 1996 to 2000 , Doug E. Doug was nominated for the Image Award in 1998, 1999 and 2000 . In the comedy Citizen James (2000) he played one of the leading roles, he also wrote the script and directed.

Doug is a member of the Nation of Islam .
