Raymond "Ray" Allen Liotta (born December 18, 1954 in Newark , New Jersey ) is an American actor .

life and career

He received his surname through adoption six months after his birth from his Scottish-Italian adoptive parents Alfred and Mary Liotta. His sister Linda was also adopted by Alfred and Mary.

He made his TV debut in 1978 with the series Another World . He made a name for himself in 1986 with Something Wild by Jonathan Demme and 1989 with the role of Shoeless Joe Jackson in Field of Dreams . He became known for the lead role in Martin Scorsese's Good Fellas - Three Decades in the Mafia (1990). This was followed by leading roles in some action films such as Escape from Absolom (1994) and Turbulence (1997). He also took on supporting roles in productions such as Cop Land , Hannibal , Blow , Narc and Identity .

For his portrayal of the terminally ill Charlie Metcalf in the episode Time of Death of the television series Emergency Room , he received an Emmy in 2005 for "Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series". In 2002, Ray Liotta lent his voice to the protagonist Tommy Vercetti in the video game GTA Vice City . He also stars alongside Jason Statham in Revolver , which was released in the UK in 2005. In December 2007 he was in the video game adaptation of Dungeon Siege ( Swords of the King - Dungeon Siege ) to see again at the side of Statham.

From 1997 to 2004 Liotta was married to the actress Michelle Grace (* 1969), with whom he has a daughter (* 1998). Liotta currently lives in Pacific Palisades , California . Since the film Good Fellas - Three Decades in the Mafia , it has mainly been dubbed by the actor Udo Schenk .
