Yellow is an American drama film directed by Nick Cassavetes in 2012 . Cassavetes wrote the script with his wife Heather Wahlquist , who herself played the lead role of Mary. As so often, Cassavetes cast a role with his mother Gena Rowlands .

The film has only been released at film festivals so far and tells the story of the suspended teacher Mary with her delusions and her tragic past.

Mary Holmes is a cognitive high school teacher, mother of four, and a Vicodin addict . Because of an affair during a parents' evening, Mary loses her job and is henceforth a housewife and mother. Her delusions keep getting worse, even though she is already under psychological treatment. She reveals to the psychologist that her younger sister suffers from Tourett , used to sell drugs on the street, never cope with the death of her father and that her older sister drove herself insane .
