Nick Cassavetes (* 21st May 1959 in New York as Nicholas David Rowland Cassavetes ) is an American actor , director and screenwriter .

Life

The son of director, screenwriter and actor John Cassavetes and actress Gena Rowlands has two younger sisters, Xan and Zoe , who also work as actresses and directors. His grandmother Katherine Cassavetes was also active as an actress, mostly in her son's films. He began his acting career in the early 1980s. Cassavetes first attracted attention in 1985 in Peter Bogdanovich's The Mask . Cassavetes was mainly seen in minor supporting roles. His last film appearance, in which he was officially named in the credits, he had in 1999 in The Astronaut's Wife - Evil Has a New Face . Then he limited himself as an actor to small appearances.

From 1996 onwards, Cassavetes turned to working behind the camera instead. He also wrote the screenplay for his directorial debut A Light in My Heart . In this film, he erected a monument to his mother, whom he cast in the lead role. A year later, Cassavetes filmed a screenplay by his father with Alles aus Liebe , for which he was nominated for a Golden Palm . After writing the screenplay for Ted Demme's film Blow in 2001, Cassavete directed John Q. - for which he received very different reviews - and Wie ein Single Tag , whose ratings were better. In 2008, he was initially scheduled to direct the film version of Iron Man , which Jon Favreau then took over.

Cassavetes is married to actress Heather Wahlquist for the second time . His first marriage has two children.
