action

Successful lawyer Carly learns that her boyfriend Mark is married. When she gets to know his wife Kate better, she has to grudgingly realize that they have a lot in common. Together, the two investigate another affair of Casanova and also clear up Amber about his infidelity. When it turns out that Mark is cheating on not only the women, but also his business partner Nick, and that all of his rip-offs over his wife's name are handled, the three friends begin to forge a plan of revenge in order to ruin him. They are helped by Kate's brother Phil, who gives the women some advice. He has secretly fallen in love with Carly and hopes that she will reciprocate his feelings. However, Carly doesn't feel ready for a new relationship yet and keeps Phil at a distance.

Their first act of revenge is that they secretly give Mark a drug that reduces his sex drive. Kate, who continues to play the unsuspecting wife in front of her husband, also dips his toothbrush in the toilet and pours a depilatory into his shampoo bottle. Carly makes up for it with Mark in order to inflict further harassment on him. So she gives him a laxative unnoticed, which works very suddenly and gives Mark some embarrassing moments.

The second stage of their activities is Mark's secret accounts abroad. Carly learns from her father, Frank, how to find them, and with Amber's help, she can find out the password. Together with Kate and Amber, she travels to Mark, who is currently on business in the Bahamas . As was almost feared, he meets a friend here too. Kate throws her wedding ring into the sea. Since she is the actual account holder without knowing it, she easily manages to completely plunder Mark's account in the Bahamas. When Mark returns from his trip, a big surprise awaits him in his office. Kate, Carly and Amber sit here together at the table and confront him with his infidelity. With Carly as attorney, Kate presents the divorce papers and a list of her assets. She also reveals to him that as a principal, she returned Mark's embezzled money to the companies that "stole" it, freeing them both from legal prosecution, but leaving him bankrupt. Frustrated and shocked, Mark becomes hysterical and leaves the building angrily. Mark's business partner, delighted with the repayment of his company funds, now appoints Kate as a new partner after he fired Mark.

Carly soon turns to Phil and the couple are expecting a child soon. Amber and Carly's father Frank are also a couple and travel the world together.

Reviews

The TV magazine Prisma Online rated: “What sounds like an acceptable 'betrayed women take revenge' joke quickly turns out to be exaggerated nonsense, which is also extremely badly played. From the very first second, the flick is annoying with poorly conceived dialogues, slapstick, a completely unbelievable story and unnecessary fecal scenes. So the whole thing is actually just another stranger's work, in which no acting character collects sympathy points even for a few seconds. Once again, funny was confused with shrill. It's not funny though, one of Nick Cassavetes' worst directorial work! "

Fritz Göttler from the Süddeutsche Zeitung said: “Nick Cassavetes directed the film, and like his father John, he has a preference for the down-to-earth and the ordinary [...] His 'The Other Woman' - the succinct original title of 'Schadenfreundinnen' - is a masterpiece of disproportion. Nothing fits together here, one puzzles the whole time how these hopelessly over-the-top lunatics actually got together. "

Kino.de judged: "According to the recipe of many successful comedies, slapstick and situation comedy determine this film, which assigns Leslie Mann the more conspicuous role in the combination of humor, hysteria and a touch of relationship melancholy, while company noodle Diaz is surprisingly reserved." However, "Im Surroundings of spontaneous emptying of the bowels, covert hormone treatment, slobbering giant dogs and designer bags that are filled with stomach contents, [...] pun is of secondary importance. "

Josef Engels wrote at Welt.de : “In the end, everything [is] much brighter and more conventional than the lively and by no means unoriginal beginning of the film would suggest. What a shame for the 'Schadenfreundinnen'. Nice for 'bridal alarm', who can continue to successfully maintain its exceptional position. "
