Julie Yorn

Julie Yorn (* 1966 as Julie Silverman ) is an American film producer who was nominated for an Oscar .

Life

Julie Yorn attended Tulane University . Her mother was Dr. Sydel Silverman (1933–2019; née Finfer), an American anthropologist and chair of the Wenner-Gren Foundation. Her father was the New York City artist Mel Silverman (1931–1966) and her stepfather was Professor Dr. Eric R. Wolf (1923–1999), who taught anthropology at Lehman College . She married attorney Kevin Yorn, brother of singer-songwriter Pete Yorn , and together they are parents to a daughter who was born in 2000.

Career

Yorn's career began as an executive producer at the film Trees Lounge - The Bar That Spins Everything in 1996. Other films followed before she was responsible for the first time as a producer on a film, Animal Factory , in 2000 . Other well-known films were Max Payne with Mark Wahlberg , Bride Wars - Beste Feindinnen with Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson , Unstoppable - Out of Control with Denzel Washington , We Buy a Zoo with Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson , and Die Schadenfreundinnen with Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann . At the 2017 Academy Awards , she and Carla Hacken received a nomination in the category of best film for Hell or High Water , but they had to admit defeat to Moonlight .
