action

The federal tax authorities and the FBI are making no progress in investigating a company. The thief Sam Quint is assigned to steal a magnetic tape cassette with the evidence of the crimes from the corporate headquarters. He is recognized and hunted; on the run, he hides the cassette in the prototype of the high-tech Black Moon car .

A short time later, the prototype is stolen by Nina and taken to the underground garage under a high-rise complex. She works for a gang of car thieves led by Ed Ryland. Ryland fears that Black Moon as a very special car could be easily recognized anywhere and has it locked in a box. Nina is upset about it. When she leaves the complex in her car, Quint follows her to a nightclub, where he approaches her. They have sex at home.

Quint is pressured to hand over the cassette to his client within 72 hours. He allies himself with the designers of the vehicle, who want it back as quickly as possible, and together they plan a break-in into the high-rise complex. This succeeds as far as possible, but an unknown safety device prevents Black Moon and Nina from escaping , who has fallen out of favor with Ryland. Ryland uses the car elevator to take the vehicle to a higher floor. Quint and Nina run over him there and use a special drive to escape through the air into the neighboring high-rise, where Quint hands over the cassette.

background

The eponymous car is based on the Wingho Concordia II from 1980. The designers were Bernard Beaujardin and Clyde Kwok from the Montreal-based company Wingho Auto Classique . Since it was a one-off piece, a copy had to be made for the stunts, and another copy was built for the interior shots. The cinema premiere in Germany took place on January 16, 1986.

Reviews

Film-Dienst wrote that the film was “ surprisingly skilled in terms of craftsmanship, effective in some technical details and for the most part entertaining; in terms of content and character, however, it is extremely insubstantial ”.

Awards

Harley Cokeliss has been nominated for the MystFest Prize of the Festival Internazionale del Giallo e del Mistro Cinema Televisione Letteratura .
