The Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida caused a scandal as the jury president at the 1986 Berlinale . She rejected the democratic decision of her jury for the winning film Stammheim . She broke confidentiality during the award ceremony and publicly rejected the film.

January 8th - The Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias Cinematográficas is founded in Spain and has been awarding the Goya Spanish Film Prize every year since 1987 .
