Susan… Desperately Wanted (original title Desperately Seeking Susan ) is an American comedy film that was produced in 1985. Directed by Susan Seidelman .
action
The frustrated housewife Roberta Glass is married to the bathtub salesman Gary. Out of boredom, she reads personals, including one in which the musician Jim is "desperately looking for his girlfriend Susan". She arrives for Jim and Susan's meeting in New York City, and then follows Susan. When Susan decided to swap her jacket for new boots, Roberta bought the jacket. She finds a locker key in it and now places an advertisement herself.
When Jim goes on a trip, he asks his friend Dez to take care of Susan and describes Susan's jacket as a identification mark. Susan arrives at the meeting point by taxi, but cannot pay for it and is arrested by the police.
Dez sees Roberta with Susan's jacket being molested by a stranger. Roberta hits a lamppost with the back of her head and temporarily loses her memory. Dez, who thinks Roberta is Susan, helps her and takes her to his apartment.
Dez finds the locker key with Roberta, and they open it in the hope that Roberta remembers the sight of her belongings. In it you will find two antique earrings and a photograph of a nightclub between items of clothing. There Roberta gets a job as an assistant to a magician. She is then followed by an unknown gangster who wants to get back the earrings that the real Susan stole.
Meanwhile, Susan makes the acquaintance of Gary and wraps him around her finger. They are looking for Roberta. She now remembers and is arrested by the police for prostitution . However , after a bail deposited by Dez , she was released.
It finally comes to a showdown when Gary and Susan and the returned Jim meet with Dez in the nightclub with Roberta and the unknown criminal. When the latter realizes that he was after the wrong person, he threatens Susan, but is knocked down by Roberta with a bottle. Eventually Roberta separates from Gary and goes to Dez. In the end, Roberta takes over some behavior from Susan. After the last scene, a newspaper is shown with a picture of Roberta and Susan. They hand over the jewelry that Susan had stolen during a press conference.
