Andrew Mondshein

Andrew Steven Mondshein (born February 28, 1957 in the USA ) is an American film editor .

Life

Mondshein grew up on the US east coast and lived for a while in Florida, where he did his bachelor's degree at the University of Florida . During his studies he was particularly interested in the films of the 60s and 70s by Stanley Kubrick and Sidney Lumet . After completing his studies, he moved to New York and assisted Peter C. Frank in editing a Sidney Lumet film. In total, he worked on five projects for Lumet until 1992. In 1985 he was one of the first editors to mount a film on a computer editing system. When Editor to Lumet's Power (1986) it was at that time before the election, either the system installation or the editing system Editdroid by George Lucas to use. Since the former was available, Montage was used . In East Hampton , where Lumet owned a summer home, the Director's Cut was edited with the help of an engineer and the entire software team in Massachusetts . In the course of his career, Mondshein used different systems, including Moviola , Montage and Avid .

Mondshein has also had a long-standing collaboration with the Swedish director Lasse Hallström . He edited seven projects for him, including successful films such as Casanova (2009), Gilbert Grape - Somewhere in Iowa (1993) and Chocolat - A small bite is enough (2000).

Andrew Mondshein is a member of the American Cinema Editors . He lives with his wife, producer Leslie Holleran, and their children in Larchmont , New York .
