Remember Me is an American drama from 2010 with romantic elements . Directed by Allen Coulter and starring Robert Pattinson .
action
The film begins with a look back at 1991: Ally Craig's mother is robbed and shot in a New York subway station in the presence of her 11-year-old daughter. The policeman who appears at the scene is Ally's father, Neil Craig. In a street fight that Tyler wants to stop, he meets the police officer Neil Craig. Tyler criticizes his actions during the questioning of those involved, insulting him as an incompetent police officer who is not doing his job properly, because he also arrests the innocent. He was then temporarily arrested, but was released immediately after his father intervened.
Later, Tyler's roommate Aidan recognizes Ally as the daughter of the policeman Tyler provoked. In return for the unfair treatment, he suggests that Tyler contact Ally. She wants to get rid of him first, but then agrees to a meeting. When Ally stays at Tyler's house after a party where she drank too much without letting him know, a fight breaks out between father and daughter. Ally moves in with Tyler, and their relationship deepens. She only occasionally contacts her father. Through information from his colleagues, Ally's father finds out Tyler's address, looks for him and attacks him in his apartment.
In the meantime, Tyler messes with his father more and more openly, accusing him in front of business partners of not caring for his family. Tyler's relationship with Ally is put to the test when she learns that Tyler only approached her to get revenge on her father. Aidan later persuades her to give Tyler a second chance. After schoolmates cut Caroline's hair at a birthday party, Tyler lovingly takes care of the crying girl. When he takes her to her class the next day at school and Caroline is pounded about her new hairstyle, Tyler smashes the glass of a door out of anger, is arrested again and shortly afterwards taken from prison by his father. When Tyler visits his father at the office the next day, he is taking Caroline to school. While Tyler waits, his gaze falls on one of the two towers of the World Trade Center . It is September 11, 2001 , i. H. the office is in the second of the two towers.
In different scenes you can see all the important people in Tyler's life looking shocked at a certain place in the ash rain. For the second time in the film, while his father is being shown, Tyler quotes a phrase that allegedly came from Gandhi : "Whatever you do in life will be insignificant, but it is important that you do it because no one else will." will do. "
Tyler is buried and the family stands by his grave. As a lesson from what happened, Charles now seems to care more about his daughter Caroline. At the end, Ally is seen thinking about boarding a subway at the station where her mother was killed: the first time that she takes the subway again instead of taking a taxi after her mother's death.

criticism
“ Twilight star Robert Pattinson proves in this sensitive love story about loss and new beginnings that he can do more than just play the role of vampire Edward. With a balanced mix of humor and romance, director Allen Coulter ( The Hollywood Conspiracy ) shows what is important in life, but above all how fragile mutual trust can be. After all, it's also about living the moment intensely and passionately. "
“A superfluous film with an annoying twist at the end. But Robert Pattinson is on the right track. Hopefully with better scripts. "
