Marcelo Zarvos

Marcelo Uchoa Zarvos (born May 1969 in São Paulo ) is a Brazilian composer and pianist (occasionally also accordionist).

Life

Marcelo Zarvos was born into the second generation of Greek emigrants in São Paulo and grew up there. At the age of ten, Zarvos began playing the piano intensively before performing professionally in local nightclubs at the age of 13. A year later he had a recording deal with Columbia Records when he joined the moderately successful band Tokyo . During his time as a band, he not only came into contact with musical composition as a keyboard player and songwriter, he also experienced other musical influences while playing with Nina Hagen and Cauby Peixoto , among others . This then led to the fact that he continued to study music under the guidance of the German musician Hans-Joachim Koellreutter before he began studying music at the American Berklee College of Music at the age of 18 , which he completed with a bachelor's degree at the California Institute of the Arts . He then graduated with a Masters in Music from Hunter College .

After Zarvos along with Peter Epstein , the jazz album Dualism and as a leader, the albums labyrinth and Music Journal resumed, it was the Brazilian director Paulo Machline who met him in 1999 in a New York nightclub, and asked for his short film Uma História de Futebol the Compose music. Since then, Zarvos has worked as a composer for films such as The Good Shepherd , Law of the Road - Brooklyn's Finest and The Beaver .

Zarvos is in a relationship with the American actress Janel Moloney , with whom he has had a son since February 14, 2010.
