Janel Wallace Moloney (born October 3, 1969 in Woodland Hills , Los Angeles , California ) is an American actress . She became known for her role as Donna Moss in the TV series The West Wing - In the Center of Power .

Life

After a few guest appearances, including in Emergency Room - The Emergency Room , Sports Night , The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. and Murder is Her Hobby , she played 143 episodes in The West Wing between 1999 and 2006 . For this role, Moloney received two Emmy nominations for Best Supporting Actress. Together with the ensemble she received the Screen Actors Guild Award twice .

Moloney is the niece of actress Christine Ebersole . Since February 14, 2010, she has had a son with the Brazilian composer and jazz pianist Marcelo Zarvos .
