You do not know jack (original title: You Do not Know Jack ) is an American film biography of the year in 2010 by director Barry Levinson , who by HBO produced.
action
Former pathologist Dr. Jack Kevorkian has to experience the long and painful death of his mother and as a result he campaigns for the humane dying of terminally ill people through assisted suicide. He develops an apparatus that enables seriously ill people to take the last step towards suicide on their own. He is supported by his older sister Margo Janus, his friend Neal Nicol and the activist Janet Good.
His first patient is Janet Adkins, who has Alzheimer's disease and uses the equipment in a VW bus to commit suicide. A radio interview spreads his popularity and more and more terminally ill people and their relatives turn to him. In order to secure himself legally, he documents the patient's express wish to die on video. Prosecutor Dick Thompson becomes aware of him and charges him. The lawyer Geoffry Fieger recognizes the dimensions of the case and agrees to represent Kevorkian in court without commission, and he also makes clever use of the media for himself and his client. In a spectacular process, Kevorkian is acquitted. He continues his fight and is repeatedly charged by the prosecutor and has to be remanded in custody. There he consistently refuses to eat. However, he is always exonerated of guilt in the subsequent legal proceedings. As a result, the state of Michigan passed a tightening change in the law, which, however, was declared null and void by the appeals court.
For a short time he can even do euthanasia in a clinic that he has opened. He names the clinic after his sister Margo Janus Mercy, who has since passed away. But after a short time his lease is canceled. In 1996 the prosecutor tried to indict him for violations of common law, now he even appears in court on the self-made pillory with an iron ball around his leg to announce his protest. Here, too, he is acquitted by the jury.
Through the media as Dr. Known to Death, he euthanized 129 people. Even Good enlists the help of her friend Kevorkian when she is terminally ill with pancreatic cancer. In order to override the existing euthanasia law and bring the issue to the Supreme Court, he actively euthanizes his 130 patient. Fieger is now involved in politics and so Kevorkian decides to defend himself in court. In 1999 he was sentenced to 10 to 25 years in prison for a minor case of manslaughter and the administration of a prohibited substance. Due to his hepatitis C illness and his very short life expectancy, he was released from prison in 2007.

"The best Al Pacino for a long time: In the American television film" You Don't Know Jack ", the eternal gangster king embodies the doctor Jack Kevorkian, who was the first doctor in the USA to assist in dying. The film about autonomy and freedom, which received a lot of praise in the USA, can now be seen on German television for the first time. "
