Stephan Hoffmann (* 1960 ) is a German actor , voice actor , dialogue director and dialogue book author .

Career

From 1980 to 1983, Hoffmann trained as an actor at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz . In the same year he played a guest role in the episode Lohmanns inner peace from the television series Derrick .

In the following years Hoffmann worked alongside theater engagements as a voice actor in Munich . His voice was z. B. to be heard as Thorne Forrester in the US soap opera Reich und Schön (1988–1992), for Gregory Harrison in the hospital series Trapper John, MD (1989–1994), for Marcus Giamatti in For All Cases Amy (2003–2005) or as Enel in One Piece (2005).

Stephan Hoffmann has lived in Berlin since 2006 , where, in addition to his work as a voice actor, he also worked as a dialogue director and dialogue book author for around 100 foreign language productions. His works include u. a. the German versions of Lars von Trier's scenic drama Manderlay (2005), the award-winning Romanian film drama 4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days (2007) about the dictatorship of Ceaușescu, Jean-François Richets biographical film about the French criminal Jacques Mesrine Public Enemy No. . 1 and its sequel (2009), Oliver Parker's film version of Dorian Gray (2010), Danis Tanović's Bosnian drama Cirkus Columbia (2011), Jodie Foster's tragicomedy The Beaver (2011), the US comedy Young Adult (2012) with Charlize Theron , "La Grande Bellezza" by Paolo Sorrentino and "Le Passe" by Asghar Farhadi. Hoffmann was also responsible for the dubbing and dialogue direction of the series The Newsroom (2012) and Homeland (2013).

When Alexander Sokurow decided to film a new adaptation of Faust , despite the international cast, he wanted to shoot in German, i.e. in the original language of the work. He commissioned the dubbing writer and director Stephan Hoffmann to edit the dialogues. The collaboration lasted around 10 weeks, with the voice recordings taking place at Berliner Synchron AG in the last three weeks. When the film was awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 2011 , Sokurov paid tribute to Hoffmann with the words: "The head of the Golden Lion belongs to him."

In addition, Hoffmann works as a rhetoric trainer and guest lecturer at the Graz University of Art .
