content

After his military service in the Algerian War, Jacques Mesrine returned to France in 1959 . He starts working for the underworld boss Guido, who is linked to the OAS . During a stay in Spain he met Sofia, married her and had three children with her. Mesrine tries her hand at a civil profession, but soon returns to crime. Sofia leaves him. He met Jeanne Schneider, with whom he carried out a number of attacks. When France becomes too dangerous for him, he flees to Montreal . Together with Jeanne, he kidnaps a billionaire. He and Jeanne are arrested in the United States . Mesrine is taken to a maximum security prison, from which he manages to escape.

criticism

“Richet does not shy away from scenes of extreme brutality, but also portrays Mesrine as an anarchist gambler who just interprets the revolutionary ideals of the 1968 protest movement a little differently. Public Enemy : a film like a punch, and a double one. Conclusion: Fast-paced and extremely brutal crime epic in the format of a modern action thriller, which lasts four hours in its entirety and yet does not allow a second of boredom. "

Awards

Vincent Cassel was honored in the Best Actor category at the Tokyo International Film Festival . The film also received three awards at the César 2009 in the categories of Best Actor, Best Sound and Best Director. In the categories Best Film Music, Best Film, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design and Best Editing, nominations remained.
