Hervé Schneid

Hervé Schneid (born May 12, 1956 ) is a French film editor .

Life

Since 1991, Schneid has been responsible for editing all seven of Jean-Pierre Jeunet's feature films . With Delicatessen he won his only César for the best cut . Three more nominations were to follow, two of which were also films by Jeunet, namely The fabulous world of Amélie and Mathilde - A great love . With Public Enemy No. 1 - Murder Instinct and Public Enemy No. 1 - The death instinct was the first time Schneid was nominated for a César for a project outside of Jeunet's direction.

Over the years, Schneid has built a considerable reputation that made him known beyond the borders of France. He worked in a wide variety of international productions. The director Sally Potter said of him that he had a ruthless objectivity and a sensitivity to the perception of the purpose of an author and director (He has a ruthless objectivity combined with a great sensitivity to the writer / director's sense of purpose) . In 2005, Schneid was on the jury of the Zurich Film Festival .

In 2018 he was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
