Elena Anaya (born July 17, 1975 in Palencia ) is a Spanish actress .

Life and accomplishments

Anaya has two older siblings, a brother and a sister, and her parents separated when she was a child. She interrupted her first studies and enrolled at the Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático de Madrid . After accepting a role in the comedy Familia , she did not return to RESAD .

For her supporting role in the 2001 film drama Lucia and Sex , Anaya was nominated for the Goya Prize in 2002 and was awarded the Edición Premios Unión de Actores . In the thriller Dead Fish (2004) she was seen in one of the bigger roles alongside Gary Oldman . In the horror film Van Helsing (2004) she played one of the three brides Dracula ( Richard Roxburgh ) who fight against Van Helsing ( Hugh Jackman ) and Anna Valerious ( Kate Beckinsale ). In the film drama In the Land of Women (2006) she played a friend of the protagonist ( Adam Brody ), who breaks up with him, which motivates him to move and to change his previous life.

Anaya appeared in the 2006 music video SexyBack with Justin Timberlake . Elena Anaya lives mostly in Spain with her friend.

In 2012, Anaya won Spain's most important film award, Goya, for best actress for her performance in Pedro Almodóvar's melodrama The Skin I Live In (2011) .

In 2017 she was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
