Oliver Parker

Oliver Parker (born September 6, 1960 in London ) is a British director , screenwriter , producer and actor .

Life

Parker was born in London to a writer and doctor and a manager for British Rail . He is the brother of actor Nathaniel Parker .

Parker began his career in the film business with small and supporting roles in various film and television productions from 1986. He took on a recurring role in the series Casualty from 1993 to 1994. From the mid-1990s he turned to directing. He made his debut in 1995 with Othello , for which he also wrote the screenplay. Since then he has mainly directed film comedies.

He was nominated for a BAFTA Award in 2000 for his screenplay for his second film as director, A Perfect Husband .
