Steven Meigs Ford (born May 19, 1956 in East Grand Rapids , Michigan ) is an American actor . Ford is one of four children from the marriage of US President Gerald Ford and his wife Betty Ford .

Life

Steven Ford was born in 1956 as the third son of Gerald and Betty Ford. He graduated from Utah State University .

As a passionate rider, he performed at rodeo, among others . He began his acting career in 1981 with a small role in a western where you needed "someone who can fall off the horse". This was followed by a longer role as detective Andy Richards in the soap opera Shadow of Passion . For fear of unemployment, Ford saved money at the time by living in his car while filming in Los Angeles .

He became known to a larger audience in 1989 for a short role in the classic film Harry and Sally on the side of Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal . Ford played the role of Sally's friend Joe , whom Harry met again at the airport. This was followed by roles in films such as Heat , Contact , Starship Troopers , Armageddon and Black Hawk Down .

In the 1980s and early 1990s, Ford, like his mother, the founder of the Betty Ford Center rehab, suffered from alcohol for a long time . Since his successful withdrawal in 1993, Ford has mainly acted as a speaker and motivational speaker, lecturing at companies and in front of students on overcoming alcoholism.
