Glynn Russell Turman (born January 31, 1947 in New York City , New York ) is an American actor . His fame results largely from his presence in American television productions.

Life

Turman's career began when he was 13 when he landed a teenage role in a Broadway play . In the following years Turman played exclusively in stage plays, for example in New York or Los Angeles . In addition, after graduating from school, he began training at the New York College of Performing Arts .

Turman's film career began in the 1970s with the so-called blaxploitation wave, where he starred in productions such as Attica - Revolte Behind Bars . Since then he has acted primarily in supporting roles in productions on US television, but also in some movies such as Gremlins - Little Monsters , Men of Honor or Sahara - Adventure in the Desert . In 1977 he was scheduled in the preproduction of Star Wars as Han Solo , before George Lucas changed the plans and cast the part with Harrison Ford .

Turman's most famous role to date was as Colonel Bradford "Brad" Taylor in the sitcom College Fever , a spin-off from the Bill Cosby Show .

Glynn Turman is the father of four children. He married three times and was in a second marriage to Aretha Franklin .
