Beverly Hills, 90210 is an American television series that ran on Fox from 1990 to 2000 and was produced by Aaron Spelling and Darren Star . In Germany, the series was first broadcast by RTL from July 4, 1992 to April 14, 2001 . The title of the television series refers to the classy serial setting Beverly Hills in California's Los Angeles County and its zip code . The location was among other things the property number 933 on North Hillcrest Road . The Melrose Place offshoot was produced from 1992 to 1999, and another named 90210 from 2008 to 2013 .

action

The first episodes are mostly about the twins Brandon and Brenda Walsh, who move from Minnesota to Beverly Hills in the pilot . There they meet the spoiled Kelly Taylor, her ex-boyfriend Steve Sanders, the intelligent Andrea Zuckerman and the loner Dylan McKay. There is also Kelly's bosom friend Donna Martin and the two year younger David Silver and Scott Scanlon, who absolutely want to belong to Kelly's clique. Over time, it turns out that rich kids also have their problems. While Donna and David later got their own stories as well, the role of Scott was written in the second season of the series.

At the end of the fourth season, Shannen Doherty had to leave the series due to tension during filming. She was replaced by Tiffani-Amber Thiessen , who from the fifth season embodied the scheming beast Valerie Malone. The fifth season was also the time of upheaval for the series, because from now on new faces kept appearing - some of them stayed longer, some only very briefly. This included Hilary Swank , who played Carly Reynolds in season 8. However, she was so unpopular with fans that she was fired after half a season. However, this did not affect her career, because shortly afterwards she won her first Oscar . Jamie Walters left the series because of the brutal image of his role as Ray Pruit, which damaged his music career. Luke Perry left the series in the sixth season, but returned in the ninth season because his intended cinema career flopped. From then on, Perry was featured as a “Special Guest Star” in the opening credits.

In 2000, the series was discontinued after ten seasons and nearly 300 episodes. In 2003 there was a reunion in the form of a TV special with the title Beverly Hills, 90210: 10 Year High School Reunion , at which even Shannen Doherty was present and together with her colleagues Jason Priestley , Jennie Garth , Ian Ziering , Gabrielle Carteris and Luke Perry reminisced.

occupation

The series was set to music at Bavaria Synchron . Philipp Kraus wrote the dialogue books for the first four seasons; Frank Engelhardt and Ivar Combrinck took on this task for the remaining seasons . Engelhardt was the dialogue director for the first four seasons, from season 5 Ekkehardt Belle and Combrinck were the dialogue directors.

New edition 2019 BH90210

In December 2018 it came out that a new edition of Beverly Hills, 90210, was being offered to several channels. It was initially developed by Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth in conjunction with CBS Television Studios. The first hint of this came from Spelling on Instagram in March. [48] Many of the original actors attended, including a. Garth, Spelling, Shannen Doherty, Jason Priestley, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green and Gabrielle Carteris. CBS confirmed on December 18 that the project was in its early stages. "We aren't confirming much detail except that it is an untraditional take on a reboot with some of the original cast". [48]

On February 1, 2019, Spelling confirmed that there will be a new edition.

"It is the OG crew back together, and we're playing heightened versions of ourselves. The fans will be pleasantly surprised, though, because we will intercut that with scenes from the show. So it'll be a whole ensemble cast." [49] She added "almost everyone" to the original cast, as Luke Perry's participation was considered limited as he worked on Riverdale until his death on March 4th.

After his death, CBS Television Manager David Stapf said the new series would kind of honor him. [50] Stapf also confirmed that it was Spelling who came up with the idea of a new TV show that would reunite the original cast.
