Jason Bradford Priestley (born August 28, 1969 in Vancouver , British Columbia ) is a Canadian - American actor , director and producer . He was best known in the 1990s for his role as Brandon Walsh in the television series Beverly Hills, 90210 .

Life

Jason Priestley is the brother of actress Justine Priestley . From childhood he gained experience in front of the camera in television series, commercials and as a model. He starred in a few episodes of such successful series as 21 Jump Street , Airwolf and MacGyver in the 1980s , as well as an episode of Back to the Past .

He first gained fame in Germany through the American television series Teen Angel , which was broadcast weekly on the Disney Club (ARD). He became famous in 1990 as Brandon Walsh in the television series Beverly Hills, 90210 . Priestley was in a relationship with actress Christine Elise , who played Emily Valentine in the series , for a few years.

Parallel to Beverly Hills, 90210 and after leaving the series, Priestley worked on several television and cinema films as an actor, director or producer. He shot his first feature films in 1993. While he only played a minor role in Tombstone , with Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer , among others , Calendar Girl flopped with him in the lead role. Cold Blooded (1995) and Life and Death on Long Island (1997) received critical acclaim, but went largely unnoticed at the box office. In the following years he played minor roles, such as a mad junkie in The Eye with Ewan McGregor and a corrupt politician in The Fourth Angel . He has not yet made the big breakthrough on the big screen.

In 2004 he starred in the television series Tru Calling - Schicksal reloaded! the role of Jack Harper , the opponent of the main character Tru . A year later he starred alongside Thomas Cavanagh in the series Love Monkey , which was canceled after only three episodes by the broadcaster CBS. In 2007 the US broadcaster Showtime started a new series entitled Side Order of Life . Priestley played the male lead alongside Marisa Coughlan . This series was also discontinued that same year. After Side Order of Life ended , he made the television films Everest (2007) and The Other Woman (2008).

He then worked as a director several times, including one episode of A Heavenly Family and several episodes of The Secret Life of the American Teenager, as well as the Beverly Hills spin-off 90210 , 90210 .

In 2010, Priestley took on the male lead in the Canadian television series Call Me Fitz . He then worked again with Luke Perry on the TV western Goodnight for Justice in 2011 . While Priestley was directing, Perry took on the lead role and participated as a producer.

Since 2016 Priestley has played the role of Matt Shade in the Canadian television series Private Eyes , for which he also acts as an executive producer.

On February 2, 1999, Priestley married actress Ashlee Petersen. The marriage was divorced on January 2, 2000. He has been married to Naomi Lowde since May 14, 2005. The couple has a daughter (* 2007) and a son (* 2009).

Jason Priestley was also a US citizen in July 2007.
