In the Heat of LA (Original Title: Hot Tamale ) is an American action comedy from 2006 . Directed by Michael Damian , who also wrote the script and produced the film together with Janeen Damian .

action

Budding musician Harlan Woodriff grew up in Wyoming . He travels to Los Angeles , where he hopes to make a career. On the way he takes the hitchhiker Jude with him, who is hiding diamonds that have been stolen in the car. Jude is killed a little later by two gangsters who first find out what happened to the bag.

Woodriff is recorded with a Latin American band in Los Angeles. He lives with his friend Caesar Lopez, who one day disappears without a trace. A little later, this happens to Lopez's girlfriend, Tuesday Blackwell. It turns out that gangsters led by Riley are stalking Woodriff and want to get the diamonds. Woodriff survives the events and ends up finding a girlfriend.

Reviews

The Rotten Tomatoes editors wrote that the action comedy plot was spun in a quirky way with elements of a crime film, a thriller and a drama.

TV Spielfilm magazine called the film "bland" . The magazine TV direkt 13/2008 wrote that it offered "mild jokes" ; one can forget one's action. TV Movie magazine wrote, In the LA Heat is a "fine, little independent film" with a "turbulent" plot that is fun.

Awards

Michael Damian and Janeen Damian received awards in two categories at the Boston International Film Festival in 2006 . The film for Best Comedy and Christopher Goodman won awards at the 2006 Dixie Film Festival .
